Printing a page from the WWW

Whilst viewing the page in your browser, left mouse click FILE
Left mouse click PRINT

(You may be prompted to choose how many pages and copies of those pages you require. If you are, make your choice and press OK.)

The page (or pages) should now be printed.

(Please note that when you print in this way, you may find that some or all of the pictures do not appear on the printout and that some or all of the text does not appear.  This page has a black background and white text - white text WILL NOT print out!)

Entering a URL to view a specific page
(e.g. www.metacrawler.com is a URL)

Open your browser
Towards the top of your screen, there is a long white horizontal rectangle.  (To the left of this there may be the word Location, Address or URL depending which browser and version of browser you are using.)

Left mouse click in this rectangle.

The text that appears there now has a dark blue background colour.

(The dark blue background indicates that you can over-type this text.)

Type the URL of the page you wish to view.

Press the ENTER key on your keyboard.

The page should now begin to load in your browser.

Saving a picture

Right mouse click on the picture.
Depending which browser and version of browser you are using, you will be given an option such as SAVE IMAGE AS…… or SAVE PICTURE AS…

Left mouse click on whichever option you are given.

Use the drop down menu on the right hand side of SAVE IN to select 3½ Floppy (A)

Left mouse click on SAVE

The picture will then save to your disk.

Bookmarking a page (Netscape Navigator)

Whilst viewing the page that you wish to Bookmark, left click BOOKMARK on the tool bar at the top of your browser.
Left mouse click on ADD BOOKMARK.

(At this point you may be shown a description of the bookmark and given the option to place it in a specific folder.  Press OK.)

The page is now Bookmarked.

Using a Bookmark (Netscape Navigator)

Left mouse click on BOOKMARK on the tool bar at the top of your browser.
Left mouse click on the description of the previously bookmarked page that you wish to view.

The page should now begin to load in your browser.

Adding a page to your Favorites (Internet Explorer)

Whilst viewing the page that you wish to add to your Favorites, left click FAVORITES on the tool bar at the top of your browser. (NOT the folder icon shortcut)
Left mouse click on ADD FAVORITES.

(At this point you may be shown a description of the favorite and given the option to place it in a specific folder.  Press OK.)

The page is now added to your Favorites.

Left mouse click on BROWSE or CHOOSE FILE (depending on which browser you are using.)

Use the drop down menu on the right hand side of OPEN to select 3½ Floppy (A)

Left mouse click on the saved page that you wish to open and press OPEN

Left mouse click on OK or OPEN (depending on which browser you are using.)

The page will then load up in your browser.

Printing a picture

Open a blank document in Microsoft Word.
Left mouse click INSERT in the toolbar

Move down to PICTURE

Move across and then down to FROM FILE…

Use the drop down menu at the right hand side of LOOK IN to select 3½ Floppy (A)

Left mouse click on the picture that you wish to insert (at this point you may be given a preview of it on the right hand side.)

Left mouse click INSERT

The picture has now been inserted into your document.

Left mouse click FILE

Left mouse click PRINT

(You may be prompted to choose how many pages and copies of those pages you require. If you are, make your choice and press OK.)

The picture should now be printed

(There is no need to save this document, so left mouse click on the picture and press the DELETE key on your keyboard.  This blank document can now be used again to insert and print another picture.)

Copying and Pasting, then printing text

Highlight the text by placing the cursor at the beginning of the text and whilst holding down the left mouse button, move to the end of the text that you wish to copy.  When you reach the end of the text, let go of the left mouse button.
The text is now highlighted.

Left mouse click on EDIT in the tool bar.

Left mouse click on COPY.

Open a blank document in Microsoft Word.

Left click on EDIT in the toolbar.

Left click in PASTE.

The text will now appear in your word processing document.

(If the text appears white on the web page (as it does on this page) you will have to alter the text colour in your word processing document)

Left mouse click FILE

Left mouse click PRINT

The Text should now be printed

(There is no need to save this document, so highlight the text as before and press the DELETE key on your keyboard.  This blank document can now be used again to insert more text.  However, if you wanted to save this document, you would left mouse click FILE, left mouse click SAVE AS… Use the drop down menu on the right hand side of SAVE IN to select 3½ Floppy (A), give the file a name and then Left mouse click on SAVE.)

In the  Microsoft Word document which you are saving your URL's in, left click on EDIT in the toolbar.

Left click in PASTE.

The URL will now appear in your word processing document.

Use FILE ans SAVE, name the document and left mouse click SAVE.
